USYVL

The United States Youth Volleyball League's mission is to provide every child between the ages of 8 and 14 a chance to learn and play volleyball in a fun, safe, supervised environment. One of the main tenets of the program is to encourage children to do their best with their abilities. With an emphasis on positive reinforcement, the program seeks to build confidence and self-esteem in each child.

What is Club Volleyball?

We operate under two governing bodies: USAV and AAU. We are a sanctioned organization that competes at varied competitive levels within those two organizations. In the younger age groups, the focus is primarily on development and introducing the younger players to the game of volleyball. As we move up in the age groups the emphasis becomes more competitive.

Many players play for the obvious reason: They love the sport. Additional reasons would include, they want to get an edge, they want to improve prior to their next school season, and/or they have the desire to play at the collegiate level and understand how important it is to continue to improve their skills during the school off-season.

Gulf Coast Open

USA Volleyball, in conjunction with the Elevation Group, created a junior beach volleyball tour comprised of tournaments and camps across the nation.

The USA Beach Tour is designed to provide grassroots programming as well as identify top beach volleyball athletes for high performance programming. "We plan to build on the great successes of the 2006 & 2007 Junior Beach Tours as beach volleyball's popularity continues to grow, " said USA Volleyball CEO Doug Beal. "The juniors who participate in the series this year could very well be our future Olympians."

LAVA 18 Red Wins 2008 AAU Regionals

2008 AAU Regionals

Lakeland ,Florida

We knew going into the AAU Regional tournament that if we won it, we would get the entry fee for AAU Nationals in Orlando waved. Every match, the girls fought to win. I know that going to Nationals is going to be a wonderful experience for all of us involved, but the girls were not only playing hard to win the tournament-- they did not want the season to end. They were not ready to say goodbye to each other. I have to say, I did not want to say goodbye either.

These girls were fighting to have one more chance to be on the court together before the club season comes to an end.

This has been a terrific season for not only these fantastic volleyball players; it has been a very memorable one for me as well. I could not be more proud of this team. We won three tournaments, placing 2nd and 3rd respectfully in others.

We went to Atlanta, Houston, and now we are off to Orlando to represent the city of Lakeland and all the Polk County volleyball players, parents, and coaches involved in this wonderful LAVA organization.

"I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to coach this magnificent team."

LAVA 18 Red 2008,
I WILL NEVER FORGET.

Go LAVA,
Coach Crystal

LAVA Announcement

It is with great excitement and a bit of sadness that I write to you about a change in our organization. Recently, I was offered and accepted the head volleyball coaching position at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. It is an incredible opportunity for both me and my family. I will be leaving in January to take over my duties at ASU.

Before anyone panics about the future of LAVA, I want everyone to know that our club is in great shape. Nothing will change with the way that the club functions. Information will still flow to the website and to the coaches. Our email system will still pass this information on to all of you that are registered. Florida Southern's head coach, Jill Stephens, which many of you know, will be taking over the club to ensure a smooth transition. Jill has really been a major part of this club from it's inception. She knows, understands and believes in the clubs goals and mission. I will still be very involved with the club's day to day operations, including paying our bills, travel arrangements, tournament entries and payment collection. Jill will be there to help facilitate practices, equipment dispersment and coach's training etc. Mostly, Jill has committed to help continue the hard work and success we have achieved over the past 4 years. LAVA will continue to offer the youth of this area a great opportunity to develop as athletes and volleyball players. I am excited to see how the program will continue to grow in the years to come.

I am including the link to the press release on the Angelo State University website.

Chuck Waddington Named ASU Volleyball Coach

Please feel free to contact me at any time. I have gotten to know many of you over the past 4 years, and I will miss all of you and your support of your daughters' goals. Please have a safe and joyous holiday season.

Sincerely,

Chuck Waddington
